A'TIN are mad and it is for a reason!

SB19 fans, coined as A'TIN and other netizens expressed their disappointment to a reporter who asked malicious questions to the new girl group CALISTA.

CALISTA is a new Filipino girl group consisting of Olive, Liza, Anne, Denise, Elle, and Dain. They debuted last February 14th, 2022 with the single 'Race Car'. Love it or hate it, the girls' first music video is a bomb featuring luxurious settings and their energetic vocals. Following its release, CALISTA also held its lavish launching event introducing the group to the press people.

One reporter caught the attention of the netizens. The said entertainment writer applauded the rookie Ppop group's passionate performance during their debut showcase. However, he also compared CALISTA's extravagant launching to SB19's humble beginnings. He mentioned that the new girl group will surely surpass the Billboard top charting boy group.

SB19 is a legendary Pinoy pop boy group and one of the pioneers of Ppop in the country. They have accomplished so much and continue to do so raising the flag of the Philippines on the international music scene. The group literally started from the ground up, leaving their home and sacrificing their personal life achieve their dreams. Discrediting their hard work is total disrespect.

Fans gathered online on Twitter and Facebook to criticize these distasteful remarks.
One said, 'I have no issue with rising Ppop groups but some of the interviewers are crazy, do you think your questions before asking them?'

Here are other comments we found online.
"The girls were put in an awkward situation", "Here come the low-class Philippines “media”, "As we have always said SB19 is the standard, whether or not everyone else wants to admit it", and "Ppop groups that are set up for debut are earning the hard work of SB19 in the past".

What do you think about this comparison and the Philippine press' approach to Ppop genre?
